The Best Minute: Bedtime routines, who God is, and taking action

1 IDEA FROM ME

A simple way to make going to bed (on time) easier is to not wait until it’s time for bed to do many of your nightly routines. Find a consistent time earlier in the evening to do things like:

  • Brush your teeth

  • Change into the clothes you will sleep in

  • Pick out your clothes for the next day

  • Wash your face

  • Do any of your other “right before bed” routines

If your bedtime routines are already done (I recommend right after dinner), you won’t have to stall yourself from doing them (and thus stall going to bed) when it’s time to go to bed.

2 QUOTES FROM OTHERS

I. Nany Mairs on who people believe God is:

“Who one believes God to be is most accurately revealed not in any credo but in the way one speaks to God when no one else is listening.”

———————————

II. Jason Fried on the importance of action:

“What you do is what matters, not what you think or say or plan.”

I INTERESTING FACT

J.K. Rowling chose the unusual name “Hermione” in Harry Potter so young girls wouldn’t be teased for being nerdy. Rowling wanted to use a name that wasn’t commonly used. She said that when choosing the name, she “didn’t want a lot of fairly hard-working little girls to be teased if ever the book was published.

1 QUESTION TO LEAVE YOU WITH (from James Clear)

It's the end of 2023. The habit you were hoping to build during the year didn't stick. What is the most likely reason it failed?

P.S. Anxiety tip.
