💡 1 IDEA FROM ME

Never underestimate the importance fun plays in accomplishing anything.

If you’re miserable, you’ll quit (often before you experience any real progress).

At the same time, you must define what fun is for you. I remember one day as a kid playing a game of soccer with a small ball and two mini-goals on the driveway with one of my friends. He kept coming up to my goal to try and score. I stayed in front of the goal and whenever I got the ball just kicked it from my goal to his open goal and often scored.

At one point he said in frustration to me, “You’re just standing there in front of your goal the whole time, how is that any fun?!” To which I “Because winning is fun, and I don’t care what I have to do as long as I win.”

My friend also really wanted to win, but his way of trying to do so wasn’t working - so he got really upset. He thought he wanted to run around a lot, but what he really wanted to do was win. He would have had more fun if he had adopted my strategy.

In the same way, figure out how you can have fun as you pursue a goal. If you’re not yet very competent, long hours of practice won’t be fun. Find small wins that produce joy in the beginning and branch out from there.

As the saying goes, “Whoever has the most fun, wins.” Find a way to make fun, otherwise you won’t stick around long enough to win.

💬 2 QUOTES FROM OTHERS

I. Elizabeth Bibesco on the importance of failure:

“We learn nothing by being right.”

———————————

II. Noah Kagan on the importance of starting:

“Your first piece of content won’t be great. Your first product won’t be great. Your first sales call won’t be great. But that’s the point. Growth requires iteration. And you can’t iterate what you don’t start. Keep starting!”

📖 1 BRIEF BOOK REVIEW

Million Dollar Weekend by Noah Kagan.

While I think the title is a little misleading (not that it isn’t possible if you run the framework, just that only a very small percentage of people actually will make this happen - so a little unrealistic), I still enjoyed it.

With books like these, it comes down to whether or not you’re willing to do what the book says. I will say that most of the steps it suggests are doable if you’re willing to put yourself out there. For me, I was reading more to just learn some ideas and see what tips I found realistic for me. I would recommend it if you’re looking to get traction on an idea.

7.5/10

💯 1 THING I RECOMMEND

LENRUE computer speakers

I am not saying these are amazing, but they definitely do the job for the price. I have an Xbox connected to a computer monitor and use these speakers for sound when not using a headset. The quality is basic but gives me no issues. If you’re looking for some cheap computer speakers, these work just fine.

🤔 1 QUESTION TO LEAVE YOU WITH

Where am I spending energy trying to please someone who, in reality, doesn't care?
